Granted an international banking license by Panama's Banking Superintendency on January 10, 2003, Stanford Bank Panama, S.A. was originally founded as an international bank, but is now a full service commercial bank. Though still a relatively young entity, SBP is built on more than seven decades of success and integrity as part of the Stanford Financial Group of companies. We are guided by the same core values adhered to by every company in the Stanford family: hard work, clear vision and value for the client.

SBP is committed to meeting the financial needs of both individual and institutional clients. Panama City was chosen as the Bank's headquarters because of the city's proven history as a booming financial services sector founded on integrity. As a great crossroads of world commerce since the colonial period that was consolidated with the completion of the famous canal in 1914, the city plays a crucial role in trade between the Americas and the rest of the world.

Panama's healthy economic environment makes it a low-risk banking center. The Organization of American States (OAS) has ranked Panama as a country of low-cost living and low operational costs. Political Risk Service (PRS) has placed Panama among the top three countries in the western hemisphere with the best-risk investment qualifications. In addition, Moody's and Stanford & Poor's have both given Panamanian bonds high ranking.

Like our SFG banking affiliates in Antigua and across Latin America, we are committed to continuing the tradition of service, integrity and trust demonstrated by Stanford Financial Group affiliates for more than 70 years.
